Israel Awaits Invitation to Saudi-Led Flydubai Safety Investigation

Israel has offered to join a Saudi-led safety investigation into Flydubai flight FZ1073 but has not yet been invited, according to Ofer Vaknin, director of Israel’s Aircraft Safety Investigation Authority. Three people familiar with the matter said Saudi Arabia notified specialist aviation agencies abroad of the inquiry under international rules. The Dubai–Tel Aviv flight diverted safely to Tabuk after the September 30 incident. The safety investigation seeks recommendations to prevent future incidents rather than assign blame. It is separate from the criminal investigation ordered by UAE Attorney General Hamad Al Shamsi.
