UAE Prosecutor Says Flydubai Copilot Confessed to Ben Gurion Attack Plot

The UAE Attorney-General said on October 9 that the Omani copilot of Flydubai flight FZ1073 confessed to planning a suicide attack on Ben Gurion Airport’s passenger terminal. Prosecutors said he used two earlier Tel Aviv flights to study the route and airport before attacking the captain with an emergency axe on September 30. Crew members and passengers restrained him, and other pilots landed safely in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia. The prosecutor said the confession was made with his lawyer present. The suspect said he acted alone, but investigators are still examining possible accomplices and reviewing recordings and technical reports.
