Suspected Election-Influence Pages Reportedly Remain Active After Shin Bet Takedowns

Facebook pages suspected of involvement in foreign election-influence activity reportedly remain publicly active after Thursday’s account-removal operation. Some pages are suspected of being operated from Israel and the United Arab Emirates and continue spreading political propaganda. Others reportedly took over existing Israeli digital properties and changed their names to make the pages appear authentic. The earlier removal effort involved Shin Bet, the State Attorney’s Cyber Department and the Central Elections Committee; Shin Bet said it would continue working to prevent foreign interference in Israel’s elections.
