Regev Orders External Inquiry Into Ben Gurion Airport Shutdown

Transportation Minister Miri Regev ordered an external committee to examine the conduct that led to the complete shutdown of Ben Gurion Airport on August 20. The review will operate separately from an internal inquiry established by the Israel Airports Authority council after an urgent session. The authority's internal auditor will chair that inquiry with help from an independent external professional, and preliminary findings are due by the end of the week. Reports said the shutdown unfolded amid disputed claims, with management and the ministry alleging an unlawful work slowdown and union chairman Pinhas Idan citing staff shortages and worker exhaustion.
