Yisrael Beytenu MK Sharon Nir Will Not Run for the 26th Knesset

Courtroom-sketch editorial illustration of Sharon Nir in a dark blazer and white shirt, facing the viewer with her arms folded before a draped Israeli flag, drawn in warm ochre and slate-blue pastel with cross-hatching on sepia newsprint.

Yisrael Beytenu MK Sharon Nir said she informed party chairman Avigdor Liberman that she would not contest the election for the 26th Knesset. The sitting lawmaker described her preceding four years as service to Israeli citizens, reservists and IDF soldiers during an intense war. She called the coming election historic for Israel’s future and said she would continue supporting Yisrael Beytenu. Nir, a reserve brigadier general, did not give a reason for leaving the party slate in her Facebook announcement.
