France Says ICC Warrant Did Not Bar Netanyahu's Flight Over Its Airspace

France's Foreign Ministry said on Thursday that clearing Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's plane to cross French airspace on its way to the UN General Assembly was "in full conformity with international law." Spokesperson Pascal Confavreux said the Rome Statute "does not impose any obligations regarding overflights of its territory by a state plane which has a passenger who is targeted by an arrest warrant." French diplomatic sources had confirmed the clearance on Tuesday. Flight tracking data showed the plane crossing Greece, Italy and France before landing near New York. Israel rejects the International Criminal Court's jurisdiction and is contesting the 2024 warrants.
