US and Partners Pledge Tighter Interdiction of Iran's WMD-Related Transfers

The United States and Proliferation Security Initiative partners issued a joint statement Friday pledging to prevent transfers to and from Iran that could support weapons of mass destruction or their delivery systems, including unmanned aerial vehicles. They promised closer intelligence sharing, streamlined information exchanges and stronger efforts to intercept or prevent Iranian proliferation. The statement marked one year since six UN Security Council resolutions imposing restrictions on Iran were restored through snapback, and supported Operation Economic Outcast. The signatories urged all UN members to implement the restored resolutions and called on Iran to cooperate fully with the International Atomic Energy Agency.
