Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi warned on Sunday that renewed U.S. and Israeli attacks would meet a stronger response, while keeping negotiations open. Addressing ambassadors and international mission staff in Tehran, he claimed Iran was better prepared than before and rejected military action and further sanctions as solutions. His remarks followed the U.S. Treasury’s October 1 sanctions announcement, which said targeted industrial sectors help finance the IRGC and Iran’s military and terrorist apparatus. Israel’s President Isaac Herzog said on September 23 that Israel seeks peace but will not accept terrorism, including from Iran; that statement preceded Sunday’s speech.
