A report published on Friday disclosed that the United States sent two additional Patriot missile batteries to Saudi Arabia and Qatar last month to protect energy facilities. Citing informed sources, the report said one battery was deployed to safeguard a key Saudi oil facility and the other to protect a Qatari gas facility. The deployments were intended to reassure the two countries that Washington would defend their energy infrastructure if President Donald Trump resumes major combat operations against Iran. The report did not identify the facilities.
