IDF Sets October 14 Conference to Launch October 7 Commendation Review

The IDF announced a commanders’ conference on October 14 to launch the review of commendations and decorations for the October 7, 2023 battles in Gaza border communities. Maj. Gen. Dado Bar-Kalifa, head of the Personnel Directorate, and Maj. Gen. Orly Markman, president of the Military Court of Appeals, will lead it. Commanders from brigades and sectors across the military will be briefed on examining extraordinary bravery and sacrifice. The IDF says bereaved families have been informed and the process will involve careful factual examination, sensitivity and transparency. Suitable cases of civilian bravery will be referred to the President’s existing advisory committee.
