Lapid Backs Eisenkot After Reported Threat Left on Son’s Grave

Courtroom-sketch editorial illustration of Gadi Eisenkot in a dark civilian jacket and pale blue open-collar shirt against a plain background, based on an archival February 2024 portrait rather than the reported threat or current remarks.

Yair Lapid voiced support for Gadi Eisenkot on Thursday after Eisenkot disclosed that a threatening message directed at him had been left on his son Gal’s grave. Eisenkot said someone had visited the cemetery and left a plaque bearing written threats, and that he had considered how to respond before ultimately deciding to do nothing. He said that at this stage of his life he was difficult to frighten. In a post sharing the report, Lapid called Eisenkot his friend and condemned what he described as contemptible and disgraceful attacks by political opponents.
