High Court Seeks Two-Day Reply on Yair Golan Security

The High Court on Tuesday asked the Shin Bet and government to consider protection for Democrats leader Yair Golan in light of the current threat assessment and reply within two days. The direction came hours after the party petitioned the court to order a security detail for Golan. The party says police assessed the threat to him as high, at 4 on a 6-point scale, and that its petition described dozens of threats against him and his family. A ministerial committee chaired by Justice Minister Yariv Levin had earlier assigned the Shin Bet responsibility for deciding protection for party leaders without a security detail. The court's request does not itself grant protection.
