Shin Bet Chief Approves Security Detail for Gadi Eisenkot

Shin Bet chief David Zini approved agency protection for Yashar party leader Gadi Eisenkot on Sunday, reversing his earlier refusal, according to a report published Sunday. The agency's personal security unit is to guard Eisenkot; the report did not say when its detail would begin. The decision followed a police assessment that raised the threat level facing Eisenkot to 4 and recommended armed protection, and an advisory panel's recommendation that he receive security through the election. A ministerial committee had given the Shin Bet authority to determine protection for party leaders who do not qualify automatically.
