Benny Gantz Says He Will Not Run in the Upcoming Election

Blue and White leader Benny Gantz announced on Monday, October 19, that he would not contest the upcoming election. His announcement reverses the position he set out last week, when he said he intended to stay in the race. Gantz said he would continue to fight for unity, linking his withdrawal announcement to his stated commitment to that goal. He is scheduled to address the media at Kfar Hamaccabiah at 20:00 on Monday evening, with that appearance still ahead at the time of his announcement.
