Saudi Arabia’s coalition said Royal Saudi Air Defense intercepted and destroyed a Houthi ballistic missile launched toward Riyadh at dawn on Saturday. Spokesman Maj. Gen. Turki al-Maliki said Saudi defenses also foiled attempted attacks on civilians and civilian sites in Baish, Taif, Farasan and Yanbu. He described the attacks as a deliberate escalation by the Iran-backed Houthi organization. The statement said Riyadh is home to more than eight million citizens and residents, and the coalition said it retained the right to take deterrent measures consistent with international humanitarian law.
