Yemen's Alimi Calls General Mobilization Against Houthis, Offers Amnesty to Defectors

Rashad al-Alimi, chairman of Yemen's Presidential Leadership Council, called on Friday for a general mobilization against the Houthis and urged Yemenis to join the armed and security forces through official channels. In a speech on the eve of the 64th anniversary of the 26 September revolution, he said anyone who leaves the Houthi militias from that day will be covered by a comprehensive amnesty to be issued later under constitutional procedures. He said the goal is to restore state institutions and sovereignty over all Yemeni territory, all the way to Sanaa, and asked friendly states seeking stability in Yemen and the Red Sea to back the Saudi-led coalition.
