Mecca Pact Ministers Arrange Urgent Chiefs-of-Staff Meeting to Support Saudi Arabia

Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan hosted Pakistani Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan on Thursday at Saudi Arabia's U.N. mission in New York, under the Mecca Joint Defence Agreement. The ministers discussed ongoing arrangements for an urgent meeting of the three countries' chiefs of staff on ways to support Saudi Arabia under the pact, which states that an attack on any party is an attack on all. They condemned the attacks that targeted Mecca and civilian and economic facilities in the kingdom and affirmed its right to defend itself under Article 51 of the U.N. Charter.
