Pezeshkian Departs for UN, Says Iran Will Raise US-Israel Attacks

Courtroom-sketch editorial illustration derived from a contextual CC0 July 2024 photograph of Masoud Pezeshkian receiving his presidential-validation document from Ayatollah Ali Khamenei at a formal ceremony; it provides official-role context and does not depict Pezeshkian's reported September 2026 departure for the United Nations or his remarks about U.S. and Israeli attacks.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian departed Tehran for New York on Tuesday to attend the 81st United Nations General Assembly, where he is scheduled to speak Wednesday morning. Before leaving, Pezeshkian said Iran would defend its positions and present what he described as damage suffered by Iranians and crimes committed by the United States and Israel; those allegations were not independently established. He also said broken agreements had deepened mistrust and that military pressure had failed to force Iran's surrender. U.S. authorities admitted part of the delegation with movement restrictions, while his media team was denied visas.
