INS Drakon Enters Israeli Waters After Voyage from Germany

Israel's new submarine INS Drakon entered Israeli territorial waters Wednesday after a 25-day voyage from Germany. The vessel is the navy's sixth submarine and the third in its Dolphin AIP series, the Israel Defense Forces said. It had not yet docked at Haifa; the IDF said it was due to berth at the city's port. Its air-independent propulsion system uses oxygen and hydrogen to recharge batteries underwater, allowing longer submerged operations without surfacing, according to the military.
