Miliband Tells Araghchi UK Will Combat Iran-Linked Threats, Including to British Jews

British Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband told Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi that the UK will not tolerate intimidation, threats or hostile activity on its soil, according to a Foreign Office readout of their meeting at the U.N. General Assembly in New York on Thursday. Miliband reiterated Britain's resolve to combat threats from Iranian-linked groups in the UK, including attacks on the British Jewish community. He urged Iran to choose de-escalation and diplomacy instead of prolonging the war and stressed fully reopening the Strait of Hormuz. He also called for the release of Craig and Lindsay Foreman, a British couple arrested in Iran in January 2025.
