UTJ Chairman Asher Says Smotrich and Ben-Gvir 'Took Care of Their Own Public, Not Us'

United Torah Judaism chairman MK Yaakov Asher on Sunday warned Haredi voters against overtures from Religious Zionism and Otzma Yehudit, saying Bezalel Smotrich and Itamar Ben-Gvir "tried to speak nicely, but in the end they took care of their own public, not us." Invoking the Sukkot etrog, he said many things look like an etrog but are not. Asher said the change-bloc leaders, whom he described as united only by their opposition to the Haredi public, know how to avoid attacking each other in order to replace Netanyahu, and urged his public to unite behind United Torah Judaism. He also praised Moshe Gafni, recently ousted as Degel HaTorah's leader.
