New Footage Shows Rabbi Landau Condemning Calls to Abstain From Election

Footage newly released on Wednesday shows Rabbi Dov Landau sharply criticizing appeals for Haredi voters to abstain from the coming election. The Lithuanian Haredi leader made the remarks during a Sukkot meeting with Menachem Shapira, Bnei Brak’s deputy mayor and head of Degel HaTorah’s municipal department. After Shapira described efforts to discourage participation, Landau condemned those urging people not to vote and rejected excuses for abstention. Degel HaTorah has refreshed its candidate lineup and is seeking support among working Haredim, whom party figures say its new candidates better represent.
