Likud Candidate Itzik Bonzel Apologizes for Remarks to Former Hostage

Likud Knesset candidate Itzik Bonzel apologized Monday after writing that he wished former hostage Yocheved Lifshitz could be returned to Hamas. Bonzel, who holds the 29th place on Likud's Knesset list, made the remark following Lifshitz's criticism of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in a Channel 13 interview. In a later Facebook post, he said grief over his son, who was killed fighting in Gaza, had led him to write a sentence he did not mean. In her response to his initial remark, Lifshitz accused Netanyahu of inciting against her.
