Central Elections Committee Prepares for About 650,000 Double Envelopes in October Vote

The Central Elections Committee is preparing for about 650,000 double-envelope ballots in the October 27 election for the 26th Knesset, according to a report on a meeting of senior committee officials. The projected total is 44% above the previous election, with about 200,000 more Israelis expected to use the procedure, partly because of reservists and evacuees. The committee is recruiting additional workers to count the ballots. The report said the larger volume could slightly delay final results but gave no revised results date.
