Israel’s Consul General in New York, Ofir Akunis, condemned Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s statement marking the third anniversary of Hamas’s October 7 massacre. The Israeli consulate said the anniversary should honor the victims and accused Mamdani of using it to attack Israel and spread what it called “antisemitic blood libels.” Mamdani’s statement mourned Israelis killed and abducted by Hamas before accusing Israel of genocide and war crimes in Gaza and criticizing U.S. arms shipments. The consulate described his remarks as “shameful” and shared a clip of Akunis’s condemnation.
