Hundreds of anti-Israel protesters gathered outside New York City Hall on October 7, accusing Mayor Zohran Mamdani of yielding to Zionist pressure. Chants included calls to globalize the intifada, and one sign described October 7 as “liberation in action.” Elsewhere in Manhattan, Jewish residents commemorated the Hamas-led October 7, 2023 attacks, which killed about 1,200 people, mostly civilians. At the Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan, a cellist performed alongside artwork by Israeli artist Zeev Engelmayer, while 83-year-old attendee Toni Rabin stressed the importance of remembering the attack.
