Mamdani Says Netanyahu Used U.N. Speech to Repeat 'Baseless Lies,' Cites ICC Warrant

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani responded in a statement on Thursday to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's address at the U.N. General Assembly, saying Netanyahu "used his speech to repeat baseless lies meant to sanitize his genocide of Palestinians." Mamdani added that "no lie can change the fact" that Netanyahu remains the subject of an International Criminal Court arrest warrant. In the speech, Netanyahu addressed the mayor directly, saying that since Mamdani's election many Jews no longer feel safe in New York, and rejected the genocide accusation: "Israel didn't commit genocide. Israel prevented genocide." The trip is Netanyahu's first visit to New York since Mamdani became mayor.
