Russian President Vladimir Putin offered Russia’s help in resolving the conflict involving Iran during an October 8 meeting with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian in Turkmenbashi, Turkmenistan. Putin said Moscow was ready to do everything within its power to assist and said Iran had proposed a peaceful resolution. Pezeshkian said Iran and the United States had exchanged proposals and that Tehran had revised the American initiative. He said intermediaries would help consolidate the proposals once they were finalized. The exchange did not announce an agreement, ceasefire or accepted mediation plan.
