Population Authority Clarifies Voters Can Use Expired Identity Cards

The Population and Immigration Authority clarified on October 11 that voters can cast ballots using an identity card whose validity has expired. In its election-related notice, the authority also specified who can receive an identity card without booking an appointment in advance. That service is available only to people who do not have an identity card or another identification document with which to exercise their right to vote. The clarification distinguishes an expired card, which remains usable for voting, from having no identification document for that purpose.
