Qatar and Pakistan Reportedly Offer U.S.–Iran Talks and Frozen-Funds Compromise

Qatar and Pakistan have reportedly put forward a compromise intended to restart negotiations between the United States and Iran. Sources familiar with the mediation said the two sides had given preliminary approval to the proposal. The reported formula would partially address Iran’s demand over $6 billion in frozen funds, linking the financial dispute to the effort to bring the parties back to talks. The reported approval is preliminary, with no final agreement or transfer of money confirmed in the account.
