Monitor Reports Israeli Military Convoy in Western Daraa
Published
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that an Israeli military convoy entered western Daraa province in southern Syria on Saturday morning, October 31. The monitor described six military vehicles moving through the Yarmouk Basin. According to its account, the vehicles left Al-Jazirah barracks near Maariyah, passed through Abdin village and headed toward Wadi Al-Raqqad. The report recorded no arrests, casualties or property damage associated with the movement. The account remains a monitor's report, without a matching Israeli military confirmation of the convoy's route or purpose. Israel has previously described its operations in southern Syria as intended to protect its northern communities. In a statement dated September 24, the IDF said the 228th Brigade had completed three months of operations in Syria's security zone under the 210th Division. It described the mission as working to “remove threats to the State of Israel.” The September statement reported finding RPG rockets, mortar shells and Kalashnikov rifles and dismantling terrorist infrastructure. The IDF said the division would continue operating to protect Israeli civilians, particularly Golan Heights residents. That earlier release provides the military's stated security rationale; it does not confirm Saturday's reported movement or identify the units involved.
