Court Rejects Sara Netanyahu’s Bid to Dismiss Yair Golan’s Libel Suit

A district court on October 11 rejected Sara Netanyahu’s request to dismiss Yair Golan’s libel lawsuit and ordered her to pay NIS 2,000 in legal costs. Golan, chairman of the Democrats, seeks NIS 2.55 million over remarks she made in a Channel 14 interview suggesting he had advance knowledge of the October 7 massacre. Netanyahu argued that responsibility for publication also rested with those who broadcast and distributed the interview. The judge rejected separating the interviewee’s publication from the broadcaster’s, describing them as parts of one publication. The ruling concerns the dismissal request, rather than a final determination of the libel claim.
