Beliak Challenges Netanyahu’s Conscription-Law Position and Backs Bennett

MK Vladimir Beliak criticized Benjamin Netanyahu’s conscription-law position on October 20 and urged support for Naftali Bennett, accusing Netanyahu of promising legislation to Aryeh Deri and Yitzhak Goldknopf. In a morning radio interview, Netanyahu expressed hope that a conscription law could pass before the next government is sworn in, but made no commitment. He said progress depended on an election victory, goodwill and cooperation. Netanyahu advocated preserving full-time Torah study while requiring those not studying to enlist, and said willing Haredi recruits needed service arrangements that protect their religious identity and way of life.
