Herzog to Recommend Civilian Bravery Medal for Four Flydubai Rescuers

Courtroom-sketch editorial illustration of Isaac Herzog alone in a dark suit, blue shirt and tie against a wood-paneled wall, adapted from an archival January 2014 portrait for presidential context; not the reported bravery-medal recommendation or the rescue.

President Isaac Herzog has told four rescuers from the Israel-bound Flydubai flight that he intends to recommend them for the President's Medal for Civilian Bravery. He spoke with Yaniv Hayun, Dr. Shota Musaev, Tzvika Menas and Asaf Rajuan, whose actions his office credited with overcoming the attacker despite danger to their lives. Hayun helped stabilize the aircraft, while Musaev treated the wounded captain. Herzog also thanked Indian captain Smit Machchhar and acknowledged Tali Menas, who raised the alarm. The proposed recognition still requires review and a recommendation from the medal's advisory committee.
