UAE Reportedly Agrees to Additional Screening Machines for Israeli Airlines

The United Arab Emirates has reportedly agreed to additional airport screening machines demanded by Israel, potentially clearing the way for Israeli airlines to return to Dubai. The reported concession followed Wednesday’s attempted hijacking of an Israel-bound Flydubai flight. The Shin Bet had barred El Al, Israir and Arkia from landing in the UAE over security concerns, while Emirati airlines continued serving Israel. Dates for signing the agreement and restarting Israeli airline services remained unclear. The reports do not establish that the equipment has been installed or that regular Israeli-operated flights have resumed.
