Iran Summons British Ambassador Over Fairford Allegations and Warns on Ties

Iran summoned British ambassador Hugo Shorter in Tehran on October 13 over Britain's allegations linking Iran to the September 27 incident at RAF Fairford. Foreign Ministry official Alireza Yousefi rejected the allegations and demanded supporting evidence. He warned that Iran could reconsider bilateral relations if Britain did not provide it, while Shorter said he would relay Iran's position to London. The summons followed an October 12 joint statement by foreign ministers and the EU recognizing Britain's attribution of Iranian involvement. That statement condemned Iranian attacks, including operations across Europe targeting Jewish communities, Iranian journalists and U.S. interests.
