Lapid Does Not Rule Out Iran Strike Before Israel’s Election

Opposition leader Yair Lapid said he could not rule out Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu launching a strike on Iran before Israel’s election. Lapid alleged that Netanyahu might take such a step to improve his electoral prospects, while saying the intelligence he had seen provided no current justification for an attack. He expressed optimism about the Beyahad alliance’s electoral prospects and said it could outperform current polls. Lapid said the bloc had agreed on a process to choose its candidate for prime minister after the election if it won. He also said he wanted to serve as foreign minister in a future government.
