Asher Says UTJ Blocked Over 40 Bills Affecting Israel’s Jewish Character

United Torah Judaism chairman MK Yaakov Asher said at an election gathering on Wednesday evening that his party had blocked more than 40 bills involving civil marriage and pork. Speaking at the Belz Rebbe’s residence before community representatives from across Israel, Asher presented the measures as attempts to alter the country’s Jewish character. He said the party’s parliamentary work followed the guidance of leading Torah sages and urged supporters to work together for the election. After the gathering, the Belz Rebbe gave Asher a blessing for electoral success.
