Rabbi Shaul Alter’s Community Is Urged to Vote for United Torah Judaism
Published
Rabbi Yechezkel Halperin conveyed Rabbi Shaul Alter’s instruction to his community to vote for United Torah Judaism in the coming election, using the party’s Gimel ballot. He delivered the announcement in Rabbi Alter’s presence after the third Shabbat meal at the community’s beit midrash on Yosef Ziv Street in Jerusalem on Saturday evening. The declaration described difficulties facing Haredi Jewry, particularly Torah students, and linked prayer with participation in the election. It also asked community members who could do so to help the party’s campaign. The announcement was read in Yiddish, and a Hebrew translation was circulated.
