KKL-JNF Asks Police to Bar Simchat Torah Festivities at Nova Massacre Site

KKL-JNF asked police and Fire and Rescue services to prevent Simchat Torah gatherings at the Nova festival site in Re'im Forest, after last year's celebration there, with visitors dancing and camping, hurt bereaved families. Director General Ilan Shohat asked Police Commissioner Dani Levi and Southern District commander Haim Bublil to stop organized gatherings, overnight camping, fires and barbecues. Chairman Eyal Ostrinsky said celebrating where a massacre took place respects neither the site's sanctity nor Judaism. Police said they would coordinate with all relevant bodies to keep public order; Fire and Rescue said it had received no requests for large events apart from the annual October 7 memorial ceremony.
