Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke on Saturday with Indian Flydubai captain Smit Machchhar and invited him to light an Israeli Independence Day torch. Netanyahu praised the captain, who was wounded in the attack aboard the Dubai-to-Israel flight. Machchhar told Netanyahu that the copilot struck him from behind and that he reopened the cockpit door after falling to the floor. Passengers and crew intervened, and the aircraft made an emergency landing in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia. The captain was later transferred to the United Arab Emirates for continuing medical treatment.
