Source Says UAE State Security Will Investigate Flydubai Copilot

Courtroom-sketch editorial illustration of an empty archival Boeing 737-300 cockpit with two control yokes, analog instruments, pale seats and a central throttle console; contextual aviation image, not the actual Flydubai aircraft, its pilots, the incident or the UAE investigation.

A source familiar with the matter said the UAE State Security Department will question the Omani copilot suspected of trying to crash an Israel-bound Flydubai flight. The department reports directly to President Mohamed bin Zayed. The source said the countries' security bodies would cooperate fully, while media reports on investigative progress would be coordinated and approved. Israel's precise role remains unclear, including whether its representatives would investigate directly or observe, and whether they would be physically present during questioning. Jerusalem is expected to receive ongoing updates from Abu Dhabi.
