Amidror Filing Disputes Gaza Intelligence Warning Role; IDF Response Cites Duty

Courtroom-sketch editorial illustration of an archival aerial view of HaKirya, the IDF headquarters compound in Tel Aviv, with Kirya Tower, the Azrieli towers and surrounding roads; contextual institutional scene, not the newly disclosed filing or its participants.

Newly disclosed passages from Lt. Col. Aryeh Amidror's petition challenging his dismissal process show the former Gaza Division intelligence officer denying professional or command responsibility for failing to warn of war. His filing argues that warning of war was outside division intelligence's responsibility. The IDF's response defines the officer's duties as managing the intelligence picture, warning, collection and research, and advising commanders. It attributes personal responsibility to him for failures in judgment, oversight and professionalism before and during the night preceding October 7. Amidror submitted the petition in March 2026; the newly reported passages set out the opposing positions.
