Transport Ministry Orders Security Chief to Stop Outside Work Without Permit

The Transportation Ministry said security chief Avri Cohen must immediately stop outside work until he obtains the required permit, reversing its earlier claim that the employment had been approved. The ministry said the Civil Service Commission alone could authorize additional work at his rank, but no application had been forwarded and no permit granted. Cohen also worked as a reserve security officer for Israeli airlines at foreign airports. His division oversees security assessments of foreign flights entering Israel, a responsibility scrutinized after last week’s attempted flydubai hijacking.
