Change Bloc Teams Reportedly Set Post-Election Legislative Priorities

Working teams from Israel’s change-bloc parties reportedly agreed this week on legislative priorities if they secure a Knesset majority. Their proposed opening measures include a state commission of inquiry as the first cabinet decision, sanctions on Haredi men who do not enlist, and prime-minister term limits. The package also seeks repeal of judicial-selection changes, legislation concerning attorney-general powers and communications, and expanded rabbinical-court powers. Participants disagreed over immediately prioritizing restrictions on an indicted person leading a government. The teams reportedly intend to pursue repeal even if they win a parliamentary majority but cannot form a government.
